Grand Total of Companies Incorporation in Egypt up to December
31, 2002
1) Number of incorporated companies
rose to 29094, including 12384 inland-investment, 761
free-zones and 15949 capital finance companies.
2) Total of issued capitals amounted to LE 183.2 billion,
including LE 120.5 billion for inland-investment, LE 28.3
billion for free-zones and LE 34.4 billion for capital
finance companies.
3) Investment costs showed LE 367.9 billion; including
LE 206.3 billion for inland-investment, LE 78.5 billion
for free-zones and LE 83.1 billion for capital finance
companies.
4) Total of foreign contributions
amounted to LE 37.2 billion; including LE 28.6 billion
for inland- investment, LE 6.7 billion for free-zones
and L.E 1.9 billion for capital finance companies.
Grand Total of Companies Incorporated in Egypt during
the Period January 1, 2002 to December 31, 2002:
1- Number of companies incorporated amounted to 2289
companies, including 1377 inland-investment, 40 free-zones
and 872 capital finance companies.
2- Total issued capitals reached LE 5.5 billion, including
LE 3.6 billion for inland-investment, LE 0.7 billion for
free-zones and LE 1.2 billion for capital finance companies.
3- Investment costs showed LE 17.9 billion; including
LE 6.4 billion for inland-investment, LE 10.3 billion
for free- zones and LE 1.2 billion for capital finance
companies.
4- Total foreign shareholdings reached LE 1052 billion
including LE 605 million in inland investment, LE 373
million and LE 74 million for capital finance companies.
Expansion and Increases of Capitals during the Period
January 1, 2002 to December 31, 2002:
1- Expansions covered 666 companies; including 356 inland-investment,
17 free-zones and 293 capital finance companies.
2- Increases in issued capital showed LE 10.9 billion;
including LE 6.2 billion for inland-investment, LE 1.7
billion for free-zones and LE 3 billion for capital finance
companies.

Free Zone Exports and Imports (January 1, 2002-Decemeber
31, 2002)
Imports value: US 1.7 billion.
Exports value : US 2.5 billion.
